The call to serve and care for others has always been a desire of my heart – one that has grown throughout the years. As a young child I would lie in bed at night and dream of the day that I would help bring babies into the world. Whether I was practicing holding my cabbage patch dolls, trying to instruct my teddy bears how to feed the baby or dressing up as a nurse to make sure the ‘mother’ was comfortable, the calling to be a midwife has always been apparent in my life.

I began my journey when I became a registered nurse, graduating with my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in 2004. I then became a Labor and Delivery nurse for several years while pursuing my dream to become a midwife. In 2010 I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Master of Science degree in Nurse-Midwifery with a post-masters’ certificate as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. I began practicing as a Certified Nurse Midwife in 2010 and have had the opportunity to work in both birth center and hospital settings while supporting women throughout their journey of childbirth.

In 2001, I married an active duty officer in the Army, providing me a unique view of childbirth in different areas of the country. We have threes sons. My hobbies include cross-stitching, painting, reading and spending time with my family and friends.

It has been an honor to see the strength and beauty of being and caring for a woman practicing as a Midwife. I feel blessed to continue on this journey as a midwife to not only fulfill what I have dreamed of, but also to do what I was called to do. The ability to walk with women through the most vulnerable and difficult, yet joyous and memorable times of their lives will remain with me for the rest of my life.
