Adolescent GYN
Adolescent GYN
Adolescent Gynecology at Mid-Atlantic Women’s Care provides evaluation, treatment and support for young women as they transition into adult gynecologic care. Our team offers family-centered care that meets the unique needs of each patient, giving special consideration to the physical and emotional needs of young women.
The initial preventative care visit is recommended between the ages of 13 and 15.
An internal pelvic examination is usually unnecessary. We approach care as a group effort, welcoming parents and caregivers as partners in supporting the adolescent patient’s care. To help our young patient learn to develop responsibility for her own health, we spend time with her during each visit to ensure she is comfortable with our healthcare providers. This gives her the opportunity to ask questions that may be more difficult for her to express in the presence of her parents and caregivers. We respect the privacy and confidentiality of all our patients.
